Nice man. Great production and great buildup. Drop was a little underwhelming but really liked the synth used there. Not sure if its the kick I'm not too fond of, but something is holding this track back from being a killer. Nevertheless a great one. 4.5

Bahdshah responds:

yeah maybe I should have ditched the FL samples >_<

Awesome.

This is really good, props to you for recording your own vocals which sounded perfect. Good layering and buildup, and when the actual thing drops it has a really nice feel. Sidechain sounded pretty slick and that synth that is playing the theme there sounded perfect. I'd prefer it a little more square but it works well.

Despite these positives I really thought that the feel changes could have been executed better. Out of the triplet feel at 1:21 was a bit awkward listening for the first time, and I don't think it was necessary to change back to the triplet feel at 2:13, although it was a much better and less awkward change.

Anyway, hope I haven't been too harsh because I do really like what you have done here. Well done.

It's all good dude. I felt the same way. Just remember it's just a demo atm. I will be sure to have smoother transitions in the final product.

Interesting.

So. Im active. Finally!

Well this review is going to be a bit disoraganised and im gonna throw out comments randomly mainly because i havent really got much time ><

Very chill. I think you're kinda moving away from that glitchy ambient thing that i really was a fan of though (until about 2:40), which saddens me, although this is like the only song i've really listened to of yours recently so it might have been gradual or something.

WIth regards to length it was a bit short for your sorta thing. (only 4:36?) You know the piano REALLY reminds me of 'The Illusion of Consciousness', your orchestral piece, i have no idea whether this is intentional, but its pretty damn awesome.

It starts off like sorta minor, but at 00:16 there is a part where the guitar throws in a couple of blues scale notes. Intentional or not i dunnoes, but it a little bit off putting (to my ear anyway). Maybe im just random.

Same with that 'background lead thing' that comes in at 00:30. It really reminds me of that sound you used in 'Plaster You'. Again the tune it plays for the most part is a little off putting hearing a different sort of tonality to the rest of the song.

2:40. Now we're talking. Glitchy drums work pretty well, thats so classic Jim. =P pretty much all the sounds you've used here are awesome, i think that 3:45 to around 4:00 is a little obsolete though, perhaps put a little bass tune behind it or something? Meh.

I was expecting a sorta little 'wash' end but it just kinda drops nicely, pretty sweet.

Overall, not really the usual InvisibleObserver im used to listening to, but nonethless a pretty peach song. Cohort is undoubtedly my favourite, still. Nothing beats that =P

Cheers

Nice mate.

Drag Trance is what I would call it, really. Nice synths and harmonies, saws ftw? And the piano was awesome. Also, are you using the tapestop effect in dblue glitch in this one? it kinda sounds like that with the lead/saw. And I need that pad. Really.

DJOrsa responds:

dblue glitch is correct!
I spent FOREVER making the pattern for it though, but damn.. that VSTi is powerful. I love it, although it's time-consuming.

Btw, I'm using Gate, Stutter, Tapestop, Crusher, Shuffler, and Delay in a very specific order (obviously). :D

Hum.

Sounds like you got a new sample pack =P
I actually NEED that laughing sample xD

Nice bass, but that random girl that says 'Rewind Turd' is very annoying.
And that other 'HOO' sample is used in Heaven Rd. 2 I think.

Overall, good sounding song, looking forward to the final version ^__^

LK412 responds:

XD Haha ya, ill send it to you.

It says "Rewind the Tape, NOW" Imma get rid of it tho.

Thanks for the review, i hope i get the will to finish it.

:)

This covers both 1 and 2, I cbf breaking it up xD

First things first:

Very nice track. Again your imagination amazes me. However long you spent on this, I commend you, you have too much spare time. =P
Haha no. Well done.

Relaxed start, not too many effects.

2:39 is where the song really starts to start in my opinion. From there on in the song really opens up and progresses on.
3:50 is cool, filter up fits in well.
4:45 Major key or something? The way you EQ'd the kick when it is there was really good, not too intruding but still being heard.
9:00 onwards - Liked the hi hats when they come in. And the transition at 9:44 is awesome.

I didnt really like 10:00 onwards because it was too hard to follow. I know its supposed to be like that cause its glitch, but I reckon some of the glitch effect kinda needs to be toned down a little. Just a little.

12:00 and 13:00 Synths - perfect, nothing to say.
14:00 goes to minor key sorta again? With the gated choir samples gives it a cool feel.

Though what I really liked was the off tune choir samples with the tapestop effect near the end of the song, it really sounds like something that you would do haha.
The ending was okay, the donk bass kinda seemed a bit out of place though. The drums at 16:00, however, are awesome. Very.

Overall, another masterpiece I think. Cohort is still my favourite, its one of your more mainstream type tracks though.

86/100.

InvisibleObserver responds:

Your song times are a bit funky, its ... not 16 minutes long.

Check your PM's.

Why thank you Chung. One day you'll be as good as me at writing this exact specific song.

When that day occurs, let me know so I can sue you for allllll your worth.

ARGHS!

Only 256k? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH xD.

Dw, its good enough quality for NG haha.

Great work mate, as said before. =P

DJOrsa responds:

Haha.
Tyty :D

Ironically..

The older, worse version won a Top 25? Weird.

Is that sidechaining I hear? =O
Mastering is cool, does that guy do it for free lol?

Nice gating at 1:15, awesome.
This is much better. I still would have liked to be longer though.
The lead at 2:00 - cool.. but I wouldn't really use it in this song. It comes in kind of abruptly too, which is random.

Still worth a ten.

Meonly70 responds:

The guy doesn't do it for people at all, he just did this for me to give me an example of how I can improve.

True about the top scoring one and yes it is sidechaining. I didn't really make a buildup for the synth, but Derrick added that as well.

Thanks man :)
